Well having heard about Paranormal Activity 3 I thought – “Oh no, 2 has come out and I missed it….”
I was more upset because I just loved the first one sooooo much I was busting to see what rubbish this instalment was laced with…

I was a little surprised!

Gee someone had sat down and actually given this some thought… Although, the whole movie is again based upon a spook ( don’t like saying the “D” word ) that just loves to be in the movies – how odd! Or , hmmm well it wouldn’t work otherwise!

This time the good ole Security Cameras come to the rescue. And not just the odd camera here and there – the whole house is decked out….Even the bedroom?

Now I watched 3 just after this so I am in danger of making some cross references and getting a little mixed up so please don’t slaughter me for that… Speaking of which… Our naughty Spook isn’t so nice in the end…

Ok the story line in brief, which kind of gave this a little meat to it and I’m thinking trying to give some substance to the first one what was just… strange!

Anyway, we are back in the past… As really , after the first one, there isn’t much future…So we are in Kate (Katies) Sisters place Kristie was it? Correct me if I’ve got that wrong.. Anyway The Other “K” and her bloke have just had a kid recently and it turns out that Small Boys are what Mr Spook is after…. Which in the good ole way of PAx the saga, is that everyone kind of works out – sooner or later depending upon their IQ – that everything isn’t all right and then don’t do alot about it or just do something silly.

I’m not going to ruin this instalment of Horror as it’s actually worthy of watching if you do want a good ole scare… The things with these movies are that its more of what happens after you’ve watched it that can be scary… Although I didn’t have any nightmares, there are some good moments which are enforced by the fact we kind of discover why it’s happening, unlike in the first one.

The other clever aspect is that the end ties in with the happenings of the first movie. Now I know there were a few endings out there and I’m not quite sure that the one I saw when Micah ( the guy always cops it… ) and Kate both end up in a non breathing state… But still, in the vein of everything else that happens, it’s not a huge stretch to accept ( as much as you can with a little imagination ) what happens in the ending…

Or is it?

Rating

Hmm I might break a habit here and give this a 8/10 only because they gave it a “story” that gave you something to prop up the goings on upon and it had some good scary bits. Plus it tried to tie in the first one…

But in way you can’t help but feel that this version wasn’t a “Oh we’re sorry – the first one sucked and we’ll try to rescue it to explain it to folk” which I think they did.

You won’t miss a whole lot by not seeing the first one… This one stands on it’s own and it’s probably better to not see the others at all… ( including the 3rd one ).

Watch this with a friend!

Cheers

Noah

We took our popcorn and left the comfort of our lounge to venture outside into Cinema Land…

Ok so it got all the hype one expects from something that you lived in hope that it would live up to……..
Did it? Not really!

It had some scary stuff in it, don’t get me wrong, but you’d think that those “living” in it would actually do something!
Well ok a camera would work if the Spook was camera shy. Was it? Well I think it liked being on camera.

The whole camera thing got a bit tiring due to the “day after reviews” became seemingly less interesting to Micah when things started to heat up.
For instance, when the door first moved he was overjoyed…. but all the other stuff… some never even got mentioned….

The whole, “I’ll fix it” thing and the “you can’t do this in my house…” attitude, obviously scared the spook into submission.

I’m not going to mention too much about what happened as it is worth going to see, if you get scared easily and like to be scared.

Reading between the lines, what I got out of the movie is that a great duo has been born in Micah and Kate as two of the most dumbest people on Earth.

I’m hoping it becomes the theme for the next “Scary Movie” installment! Let’s see – the spook gets rather annoyed that he gets white powder on his tootsies and decides to kill them for it…

Yes, it had scary bits, loud noises will make most people jump, but overall the whole thing was comical. Especially the end….

And I won’t mention the so called “Psychic”. This guy obviously knows somethings nasty is going to happen, but he does Diddley Squat.
He was the little ray of hope, that ended up outscoring Micah in Stupidity. Hey he might end up in his own series…

I think the most scary part is hearing everyone in the cinema screaming.
Something to try…. Go back to see the movie again- wait for a non scary bit and Scream… and plug your ears…cause everyone will follow suit without knowing why.

That has to boost the entertainment value to “being worth it”.

The movie was a progression of hope (hoping it would be really scary) where in parts you did get a bit of a heart start.
That quickly progressed into a strong feeling of “how dumb can you be” and finally a big smile that it all worked out so well in the end.

Remember, it’s just a movie.

There are many more ideas that can be put into a movie like that, which would really require the local laundry service and paramedics to be on standby!
